Meet Our Narrators

John Hartoch

Actor, Director, Writer, Teacher, Singer-songwriter, Storyteller – and now Audiobook Narrator/Producer. You know what they say about a Jack-0f-All-Trades? The amazingly versatile and extremely experienced John Hartoch (Head of Acting Courses at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School) is the voice behind Leschenault Press’ Clement Wisdom Series of Audio Books.

Who better to tell you about him, than the man himself:
“I acted in rep in the North Midlands until my family needed more security, then taught for thirty-five years at The Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, directing there and writing adaptations for their summer tours. I retired from my post as Head of Acting Courses seven years ago, since when, apart from occasional teaching jobs, I’ve been getting some PC (Pre Covid!) performances together, putting poems and songs on Facebook & YouTube, and recording narrations for local, lockdown children.
At the moment I’m very much enjoying recording VM Knox’s In Spite of All Terror, awaiting my second Covid jab and waiting for things to clear so I can get my latest story & song event on the road.
I live in the wonderful Quantock Hills in Somerset next door to my partner, landscape-painter Clare DuVergier.
Clare has a website. If you like paintings – check it out! I don’t at present have one. My stuff on Facebook is ’public’. For my YouTube channel, just enter my name.”
